Introduction To Product Coding

(English Version)

According to the method, coding technology can be classified as follows:

  • Contact Coding
  • Inkjet Coding
  • Laser Coding

Contact Coding, as represented by its name, is a method of product coding by which coding or marking is done by applying contact to the product surface.

Inkjet Coding’s principle is similar with an Inkjet Paper Printer, in which one or several ink nozzle are used to release ink to the surface. This is done without direct contact with the surface of the product.

Laser Coding on the other hand is also a non-contact method, but instead of using ink, it uses a laser power to mark permanently to the product surface.

Selection for the right method would depend on several conditions, such as surface, line speed (production line speed), the desired message, environment, and also the budget provided.
